Hangover Remedies
You just woke up and you head is pounding, you’re nauseous, thirsty and ready to swear off all alcohol for at least 8 hours. Priority #1 becomes clear – get rid of this hangover! OK, so how do you get rid of a hangover?
- Rehydrate! Drink lost of water to replace what was lost the night before. This will help with your recovery time.
- Eat something light and nutritious like fruit, a can of V8 or toast to replace the vitamins that were lost last night. A multivitamin would be a good idea too if you have any.
- Exercise. I know, I know – how the heck are you going to exercise when you feel so bad? After you’ve rehydrated yourself you can greatly improve your recovery time by engaging in light exercise. This will crank up your metabolism and help your body drain any toxins that have built up over the night’s consumption. It will also get your lymphatic system flowing (The lymphatic system is your body’s waste disposal line, and it is powered by your muscles – when you move, it flows)
- Go back to bed. If you are able to - rehydrate, eat something light and then go back to sleep. With any luck you can sleep through the next few hours while your body repairs.
- Take a pain reliever. Be careful with these, they really make your liver work and I probably don’t need to tell you that your liver has already had a pretty strenuous workout… Read the label first and whatever you do – don’t take them when you’re drunk! It may help with the hangover the morning after, but it can potentially damage your liver.
Well, good luck with these hangover remedies. I hope this helps you cure your hangover.
